SFTP Employee Export

In many cases, SiQ contains the most up-to-date information about the employees and other personnel (contractors, interns, part-time employees, etc.) available to an organization. SiQ also serves as the system of record for certain personnel-related information, such as seat assignment, that other enterprise systems may need.

This article provides a high-level overview of how to set up SiQ to automatically export employee roster information to a customer’s SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) server.

Note - SFTP Export (this article) and SFTP Import are two separate integration processes.

Whitelist the Host IP

Contact your IT team with the host IP from SiQ, so they can whitelist the following host IP:

This will allow SiQ to send data to your SFTP server.

Export Schedule

SiQ exports employee data nightly (10am UTC / 2am PST / 5am EST ) and delivers it to your configured SFTP server location.

Your SFTP Server Setup

SiQ supports 2 methods of authentication with the customer’s SFTP server:

  • Using Username & Password
  • Using Username and SSH Private Key (preferred method)

You need to set up the appropriate accounts and authentication method on your SFTP server. Setting up an SFTP server is outside the scope of this article, but please search your host's knowledge base for support content on getting set up for the first time.

Navigate to SFTP Integration in SiQ

Within SiQ, you'll need to click on your name in the top right corner [1] and select Settings [2]. Scroll down on the settings page and click on Third Party Integrations [3]:

On the integrations page, click on the Employee Export menu [1] and select SFTP Export [2]. Optionally, you can type in SFTP in the search bar [3] and click on SFTP Export there [4]. Be careful not to confuse Export with Import:

Populate SFTP Integration Fields

Depending on the authentication method you choose when setting up your SFTP server, choose either the Export (Password) or Export (SSH Private Key) tab. Based on your selection enter:

  • SFTP username
  • SFTP password (or SSH private key)
  • SFTP hostname
  • SFTP port
  • SSH connection timeout (in seconds)

Export (Password) Tab

Import (SSH Private Key) Tab

When these fields are populated and you click on Activate, the export integration is complete. Your exports will occur as per the schedule described above.
